promise land is a solid deep soulful groove created by koyla. the demo floated around the bombay itunes player for a few of weeks, we needed someone to tear this track up. we tried a couple of options it wasnt working this groove needed something killer. thats were good friend jrod indigo come into play, san fran neo soul singer decides to come into lovely vancouver to hang for a while at bombay studio hq, and thats were the story starts for this track. jrod writes and lays down his song and creates the promise land over koylas ripping hooks and players. everyone is diggin the direction, timmy comes in and throws in some backups, inhouse producers sean dimitrie and nav take all the parts and put together a b side. the awaaz mix takes the track into a late night bumping funky direction with ambient tripped out textures and hard detroit style chords. overall this is a classic style ep with a real organic disco avour, that will never die for us. koyla and jrod are true musicians and deserve the fullest respect in this genre.

excellent release by one of the most revolutionary artists for deep house in spain, his name, jesus gonsev from cuidad real. the manchego native rounds out the tenth vinyl release of house cafe music with a definitive american sound from the early 90s. the future of this artist looks bright as he is poised to release more records on soul cafe music from south africa and gotta keep faith records. next to me, the title track of this ep brings memories of the productions of steve bug or gamat 3000 from the dessous glory days, lots of groove with simple elements which make it both mixab le and danceable. so deep, has already garnered the attention of house legends such as larry heard and ame, who have already included this track in their sessions.

for a few months already, sub static boss falko brocksieper gradually intensifies his work on the own label again. with driving minimal-beats and melodic instinctive feeling the track >slap< from the >slap/happy<-split-ep with mia evolved into a gladly played hit, and also the following >esque ep< was not just a dayfly in the worlds dj-bags. in this phase the new 2-tracker >blackbox< is now brocksiepers ultimate confession to the dancefloor - fully functional without lacking his organic, trippy branding. the track >blackbox< presents itself as a dark, impulsive techno mover, ripped open again and again by intuitively placed accents, only to remind itself of its own irresistible drive and to cultivate it over the full length. meanwhile the b-side >off the rack< is toying with the idea of chicago house groove, driven by a rebelliously grumbling bootybassline and bleepy excursions into the world of weird soundscapes. on both tracks falko brocksieper celebrates the sign stimuli of techno, delightfully modest and coupled with his signature bubbly, sculptural sound.
